EW – Johansson gives an exclusive look at her “nostalgic” space race romance, about whether or not NASA faked the moon landing.

EW’s 2024 Summer Preview has dozens of exclusive looks at the most anticipated TV shows, movies, books, and music of entertainment’s hottest season. Continue to visit ew.com throughout May for more previews of what you’ll be watching, reading, and listening to in the months to come.

Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum are ready for takeoff. Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive look at the two stars in Fly Me to the Moon, a sweeping romantic dramedy set during the 1960s space race. It’s a charming tale about the rumors that NASA faked the moon landing, one that Johansson has wanted to tell for years. Not only does she star in the film, but she also serves as a producer, working with Sony and Apple Original Films to get the story off the ground.

“The most challenging projects to find are romantic comedies and dramedies,” Johansson tells EW via email. “The totally original script by Rose Gilroy was what excited me most about this film. It is a big picture movie that feels both nostalgic and so modern and the kind of movie I’m always reaching for that you rarely get to see in theaters these days. Audiences are hungry for original films!”

“I think it’s such a huge testament to her that for her first big film that she’s producing, she chose an original story for a broad audience,” director Greg Berlanti adds. “Those are some of the toughest to execute these days because there’s a lot of competition for people’s attention. I hope everyone will really appreciate her performance in this movie but also appreciate her efforts behind the camera to help make it happen.”

Fly Me to the Moon chronicles the highs and lows of the 1960s space race, following PR specialist Kelly Jones (Johansson) as she’s brought in to sell the idea of space flight to the American public. Along the way, she strikes up a relationship with NASA employee Cole Davis (Tatum) and is tasked with choreographing a fake moon landing, just in case the real thing goes sideways.

“It plays with this concept of whether or not we faked it,” Berlanti explains. “I’ve always been a huge NASA fan and space nut, and [I loved] to read something that both celebrated NASA but also keyed into the importance of the truth — especially in this era right now when it seems like every other thing is a conspiracy story. What is the origin of that? Why does the truth still matter?”

dailymail – The actress, 39, saw her restraining order against Michael Joseph Branham denied because her attorney failed to serve him papers
She filed for a restraining order in November 2023 after claiming Branham’s antics left her family terrified
Branham claims to have fathered her son Cosmo, who the actress welcomed in 2021 with comedian Colin Jost

Scarlet Johansson has seen her restraining order against an obsessed fan who claims to have fathered her son rejected by a judge.

The actress, 39, filed against her stalker, named by The Blast as Michael Joseph Branham, in November 2023 after his infatuation left her family terrified. But the Superior Court of California was forced to dismiss her restraining order on a technicality because the papers could not be served to Branham.

The outlet said Johansson’s attorney Michael Goldstein confirmed he was unable to serve the unhinged fan the restraining order, meaning all temporary restraining orders were also dissolved. Johansson claims she has been targeted by Branham since August 2022, alleging that his fixation escalated until she filed the restraining order.

According to the actress, the stalking grew during that time until Branham began showing up outside her home, and notes in her reported filing that this included trips on ‘November 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19′. On November 19, she claims Branham followed one of her neighbors for over 30 miles, believing it was Johansson behind the wheel. When the neighbor realized what had happened, they reported it to the actress’ assistant as they were left frightened by the stalker’s behavior.

In her rejected restraining order, Johansson said the incident caused her and her family ‘significant fear and concern.’ ‘Respondent’s ongoing and escalating pattern of harassment combined with his determination and ability to travel has created heightened safety concerns given several upcoming public events that I will be attending,’ the filing continued.

Most alarmingly, Branham is accused of obsessively trying to reach Johansson’s son Cosmo as he believes he is his biological father. Johansson welcomed the child in 2021 with comedian Colin Jost.

The wild allegation stems from when Branham reportedly began turning up at Johansson’s Los Angeles mansion, leading the actress to hire private investigator Jon Perkins. He was tasked with investigating Branham’s recent behavior, including leaving a number of letters and children’s toys outside Johansson’s mansion. Perkins told The Blast that he found images Branham had shared online from outside the home, ominously captioned: ‘Here I am and where I’ll be forever.’ The notes he left also allegedly saw the stalker express his wish to meet Cosmo and spend time with him as his ather. Branham had claimed he needed Johansson to send him money, and asked for her forgiveness after he began stealing due to his financial problems, Perkins said.
