Variety – Scarlett Johansson has spoken out against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, urging the industry to “step back” from the organization until it puts more substantial reforms in place.

Amazon Studios has also issued a statement, echoing the recent criticism from Netflix, Time’s Up and others regarding the HFPA’s latest reform plan. The plan, which was approved on Thursday, includes measures to increase the number of people of color in its membership and restrictions on gifts and payment for members’ work on committees.

In a statement to Variety on Saturday, Johansson revealed that she has shied away from HFPA press conferences due to “sexist questions and remarks,” and said that she believes the industry should distance itself from the organization unless further reforms are implemented.

“As an actor promoting a film, one is expected to participate in awards season by attending press conferences as well as awards shows. In the past, this has often meant facing sexist questions and remarks by certain HFPA members that bordered on sexual harassment. It is the exact reason why I, for many years, refused to participate in their conferences,” Johansson said. “The HFPA is an organization that was legitimized by the likes of Harvey Weinstein to amass momentum for Academy recognition and the industry followed suit. Unless there is necessary fundamental reform within the organization, I believe it is time that we take a step back from the HFPA and focus on the importance and strength of unity within our unions and the industry as a whole.”

Meanwhile, Amazon Studios said that it is awaiting significant change before resuming work with the HFPA, which puts on the Golden Globes each year.

“We have not been working with the HFPA since these issues were first raised, and like the rest of the industry, we are awaiting a sincere and significant resolution before moving forward,” an Amazon Studios spokesperson said in a statement.

Representatives for the HFPA did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.

On Friday, a group of more than 100 publicists expressed their concerns about the HFPA’s overhaul, writing: “We will continue to refrain from any HFPA sanctioned events, including press conferences, unless and until these issues are illuminated in detail with a firm commitment to a timeline that respects the looming 2022 season reality.”

Golden Globe winner Mark Ruffalo also chimed in on Twitter, saying that he “cannot feel proud or happy about being a recipient of this award” unless the organization “steps up.”

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos sent a letter to the HFPA’s leadership committee on Friday, which reads: “We don’t believe these proposed new policies — particularly around the size and speed of membership growth — will tackle the HFPA’s systemic diversity and inclusion challenges, or the lack of clear standards for how your members should operate. So we’re stopping any activities with your organization until more meaningful changes are made. Netflix and many of the talent and creators we work with cannot ignore the HFPA’s collective failure to address these crucial issues with urgency and rigor.”

HFPA President Ali Sar responded to Sarandos’ letter, writing that the organization has “always valued our relationship with Netflix as we seek to bring news about motion pictures and television to the world. We hear your concerns about the changes our association needs to make and want to assure you that we are working diligently on all of them.”

The HFPA first came under fire in February after a Los Angeles Times investigation revealed that they had not had a single Black member in their ranks in over two decades. The article also detailed that the organization had paid large sums to members for serving on committees and accepted lavish junket trips. In April, the HFPA was once again hit with controversy when it was revealed that a former president, Phil Berk, had sent an email to members calling Black Lives Matter “a hate movement.” Berk was then removed from the HFPA.

People – Johansson acknowledges that it was “such a delicate time” to PEOPLE about planning her October wedding to Jost during the COVID-19 pandemic

Scarlett Johansson is opening up about the “challenging” feat of pulling off her October wedding to Colin Jost during a pandemic.

“I think just keeping it intimate and small made it feel intentional,” the actress tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue, while promoting her partnership with HumanCo and its brand of organic frozen pizza bites, Snow Days. “We wanted it to feel like it had an intentional intimacy as opposed to being something that felt like we were restricted by all these things.”

The Black Widow star acknowledges that it was “such a delicate time,” as they took full COVID-19 precautions into account for the event. “And there was a lot to take into consideration because of all of the CDC guidelines and making sure everybody was comfortable and safe, following all the COVID protocol,” she adds.

Johansson and Jost, 38, held the intimate gathering at her home in Palisades, N.Y. “They only planned the wedding for a few weeks. Just close friends and family attended,” a source told PEOPLE at the time.

The groom recently admitted that he doesn’t “have taste in things,” telling Entertainment Tonight that he took a backseat role in the wedding planning.

“I never grew up imagining my dream wedding, like, ‘This is what I want,'” he said. “I imagined my dream partner rather than my dream wedding. There’s a lot of details to it that I just didn’t even consider.”

But even with all the wedding planning and COVID precautions, it was worth it to celebrate the moment with their loved ones. “We were just so happy to be able to celebrate with our family,” Johansson says.

“Some people we hadn’t been able to really see so much over this past year,” she adds. “So that was really special … We felt really fortunate that we were able to do it.”

Making their big day even more special, they let Meals on Wheels America announce the news of their union on social media, while requesting fans donate to the nonprofit. “Their wedding wish is to help make a difference for vulnerable older adults during this difficult time by supporting @mealsonwheelsamerica,” the post read in part.

The couple got engaged in May 2019, two years after they began dating. Johansson debuted her 11-carat engagement ring at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

“He’s very charming and very thoughtful and romantic. But yeah, I was surprised,” she said, recounting the proposal to Ellen DeGeneres in October. “Even if you kind of imagine what that moment’s gonna be like, it’s still a beautiful moment.”

The wedding marks Jost’s first marriage and Johanssen’s third. She was previously wed to Ryan Reynolds, 44, from 2008 to 2011. She was also married to Romain Dauriac, 39, from 2014 to 2017, and they co-parent 6-year-old daughter Rose Dorothy.

Johansson cited Rose as her reason for recently investing in HumanCo and becoming creative director of Snow Days. “I know what it is to look for both of those things, convenience and the nutrition,” she tells PEOPLE of the thoughtful venture.

People – Johansson has partnered with HumanCo on Snow Days, a brand of frozen pizza bites made with organic, grain-free ingredients

Scarlett Johansson takes a passive approach toward getting her daughter, 6-year-old Rose Dorothy, to eat her fruits and vegetables.

“It’s funny, but I think I never really had to trick her into eating healthy,” The two-time Academy Award nominee, 36, tells PEOPLE.

Johansson says that her own mother used the “one bite rule,” which she also subscribes to with Rose. “I think [it’s best] just letting kids discover food that way without making it feel like a chore,” she says.

“Everybody has a different palate,” she adds. “I’ve never tried to force my kid to eat anything she didn’t like, and I never tried to hide any foods from her because I was trying to pack in an extra carrot. I’m just like, ‘If you don’t like carrots, you don’t have to eat them.’ But just offer a variety as much as possible. And then I think, as you get older your palate develops, and you get out of those habits.”

Johansson hopes to help other moms get nutrition to their kids just as smoothly, investing in Jason Karp’s company HumanCo and taking over as the creative director for their brand Snow Days, which has created a healthier take on pizza bites.

Launching the organic, grain-free frozen snack last year, the brand is looking to expand into healthier versions of other nostalgic comfort foods from childhood. “I think it just made sense, especially because I have a 6-year-old daughter,” the actress says.

“I know what it is to look for both of those things, convenience and the nutrition,” she continues. “And it’s kind of a bare bones category. You pass the freezer aisle because you think, ‘Oh, I’m going to find something in there that could be [good] on a rainy day,’ but it’s always just… I can’t. And wouldn’t it be so great to just reach in there and just know that you have this trusted brand that’s delicious, and doesn’t make you feel terrible?”

The Black Widow star coparents Rose with ex-husband Romain Dauriac, 39, to whom she was married from 2014 to 2017. She recently married Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost in an intimate ceremony in October.

Johansson says she recently spent one of her own snow days with Jost and her daughter watching the 1997 family movie Home Alone 3, in which she made one of her first onscreen appearances at age 11.

After Rose fell in love with the first two Christmas classics starring Macaulay Culkin, Johansson reluctantly showed her the third installment—but she didn’t tell Rose about the personal connection.

“I just wanted her to make the discovery,” she recounts with a laugh. “Of course, she didn’t because how can an 11-year-old me remind her of me now? And I said, ‘Who’s that person?!’ She was like, ‘You?'”

Metro –
Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh both came down with pneumonia, but pushed through filming on set of Black Widow. The latest Marvel movie is scheduled for release later this year, starring Scarlett, 36, back in action as her Avengers character Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow and Florence, 25, as Yelena Belova – who is like a sister-figure to Natasha. Production wrapped on the film last year, with filming taking place in London, Norway, Morocco, Atlanta and Budapest, but the movie’s director Cate Shortland has now revealed that Black Widow’s leading stars both fell ill. Scarlett and Florence came down with pneumonia on set but pushed through with filming despite being unwell.

‘It was like being in the army,’ filmmaker Cate told The Gentlewoman, as she touched on the intense schedule production brought with it. Cate also opened up about what it was like to work with Scarlett and how the actress had pushed her to create a standalone Black Widow film that meant something.

‘She’s completely unpretentious,’ Cate said of Scarlett. ‘And that makes her really fun to be around. She’ll be joking with the best boy or the runner, there’s no hierarchy. She appreciates people and makes people feel appreciated.’ Cate continued: ‘[Scarlett] really pushed to make something that wasn’t flimsy or superficial. She wanted to make something that meant a lot to young people and to women. ‘She knew it was possibly her last film as Black Widow – she didn’t want to leave Marvel making a feel-good movie.’

Black Widow will pick up from the event of Captain America: Civil War and will follow Scarlett’s character Natasha as she confronts her past and broken relationships she left behind to become an Avenger. The movie also stars Stranger Things actor David Harbour, Rachel Weisz and will see Robert Downey Jr feature as Tony Stark. Since last year, Black Widow has faced multiple pushbacks due to the coronavirus pandemic, with Disney now announcing that its release date has been scheduled for July 2021.
