In 1995, when Scarlett Johansson was filming the movie Just Cause with Sean Connery and Laurence Fishburne, the cast was traveling on a plane when Johansson happened to cross Fishburne’s path in the aisle.

“He said to me, ‘Hey, let me ask you a question,’ ” Johansson recalls in this installment of Screen Tests with Lynn Hirschberg. ” ‘Do you want to be an actor, or do you want to be a movie star?’ In my mind, I didn’t know what he meant, exactly. I felt like you can be both, [and] you can be both, but he was saying to me, ‘Are you here to do the work?’ I internalized that. If your end goal is just to be a movie star, well, you know, that’s different than acting.”

Clearly, that wisdom stayed with her. This year, Johansson has been nominated for two Academy Awards for her lead role in Marriage Story and her supporting turn in Jojo Rabbit.

But her love for movies isn’t restricted to serious art house fare. In fact, her first sexual awakening, she reveals to Hirschberg, involved ogling Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing.

“Patrick Swayze was my cinematic crush,” she says. “Dirty Dancing was such a formative part of my youth. It was Patrick Swayze, and David Bowie in Labyrinth when I was, like, Oh, sexuality. It opened my eyes to, like, some other thing. I think Patrick Swayze and David Bowie both look great in extremely tight pants.”

Scarlett was featured on her first magazine cover of the year for W Magazine’s Best Performances edition, With came with a little interview and new photoshoot.

When I was 9 years old, working on a film called Just Cause with Laurence Fishburne, we were flying somewhere for the film, and he said, “Do you want to be an actress or do you want to be a movie star? ”I didn’t know what the difference was. I thought like, you can be both, right? And I realized then that you need to work harder and harder to get yourself to uncomfortable places. If your purpose is to be a movie star, well, this is different from acting.

Growing up, did you ever want to be a Disney child?
No, I wanted to be Judy Garland! I watched adult things at a very young age. I watched Chinatown when I was 9. Patrick Swayze was my biggest crush. He still is. And David Bowie in Labyrinth. They opened my eyes to sexuality. Wow! They both looked amazing in extremely tight pants.

Do you have a favorite song in karaoke?
I sing a Queen song if I’m particularly moody. I like “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Do you know all the words?
Of course! Are you kidding? I was a child actress: I do all the parts.

After the main award show (2020 Golden Globe Awards) Scarlett and Colin made there way over to one of the after party’s that was going on that night Netflix 2020 Golden Globes After Party.

Scarlett changed for the party and was in a Moniquel Huillier Fall 2020 RTW dress, YSL clutch and pumps, and jewellery by Bvlgari (thanks to Scarlett Johansson Closet for the info)

On January 05th the Award season official kicked of with 2020 Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel and it marks Scarlett first event of the new year and was joined on the red carpet by her fiance Josh. This was the first of her nominations for Marriage Story but she lost out.

For this event Scarlett was in a Vera Wang Custom Crimson Silk Faille Strapless Plunging V-neck Trumpet Gown dress, Jimmy Choo clutch and pumps, and jewellery by bulgari (thanks to Scarlett Johansson Closet for the info)

Scarlett was the host of Saturday Night Live (episode 09 of season 45) last night for a record sixth time only three other woman have done that now. We at last got to see Scarlett and colin interact on the show and they pulled it of seamlessly. All the sketches she did for the show this time round are a fun watch my own favourite’s is Singing Elves & Celebrity Sighting and was nice to see a carry on from the last time she was on the show as a host with Another Translator and it when as well as last time.
