Scarlett Johansson comments on Penelope Cruz in the Spanish actress’ cover story for Vogue magazine:

Johansson revealed that Allen wrote a part for the Spanish beauty after he saw her in her Oscar-nominated role in Volver.

However, he was so infatuated by her that he was reduced to a stuttering mess in her presence.

“Of course Woody was so unbelievably enamoured of her. He’d be like ‘Uh-uh-uh P-Penelope, P-Penelope. You’d think, ‘You are such a stuttering fool, man. Just get your stuff together.’ But what can you do – he’s an appreciator of fine things, and Penelope is quite fine,” she added.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona synopsis by Woody Allen (courtesy of Wild Bunch):

Vicky and Cristina, two young American girls, go to spend the summer in Barcelona. Vicky (Rebecca Hall) is straight-laced and about to be married. Cristina (Scarlett Johansson) is a free-spirit and very sexually adventurous.

They meet a flamboyant, Spanish artist (Javier Bardem) and his beautiful but insane ex-wife (Penelope Cruz). They all become involved in romantic adventures that are either hilarious or harrowing, depending on your point of view. Barcelona is seen as a very beautiful, romantic city like New York was in the movie, MANHATTAN.

I’ve added three clips and replaced the previous The Perfect Score captures with larger versions. While the film is not one of my Scarlett faves, I still like the character of Francesca Curtis and her look. It is always refreshing to see Scarlett as a stunning red head.

I also wish to thank Shui and Marc for their donations! I really appreciate it! In the near future all donors will gain access to a special section of the site, specifically created to say “thank you” to all the contributors. All donors will be contacted through email once everything has been set up.

I have decided to look for some donations for Scarlett-Fan.com. There is something extra special that I would love to obtain for the site but I cannot afford it by myself. If you’re a frequent visitor and enjoy the site and want to see it grow, please consider making a donation. All donations will be used to improve the site and no donation will go unrecognized.

If there will be enough donations, I will also try and get a copy of Visionaire for scanning (the new magazine with Scarlett’s ‘nude’ feature). But I am not holding my breath as it is so expensive and I believe nearly sold out. As you may remember, the limited edition (2,500 copies) issue costs a hefty $375 (plus shipping).

To make a donation, please scroll down and click on the PayPal Donate button in the sidebar.

Deborah Del Prete, CEO and Partner of Odd Lot Entertainment, is currently Producing Will Eisner’s The Spirit. During our recent visit to the set, amidst a rush of activity including a closed rehearsal and shooting various scenes between the Spirit and the Octopus, Del Prete was able to take some time to speak to us about The Spirit and how she helped bring the project to life.

As Producer Del Prete has been involved with The Spirit from its initial development stages nearly seven years ago to the current production and will continue on through post-production.

In terms of the story Del Prete says that, “Sand Saref stories are a major component.” How developed is the story? “It’s the Frank Miller version, it’s very developed…it’s not an origin story, but there will be origin revealed in it.”

I’ve added 12 HQs of Scarlett filming He’s Just Not That Into You in Baltimore last weekend with Kevin Connolly. The film is expected to wrap this week. Read on for an article from Baltimore Sun:

Celebrity sightings continued this weekend as the cast of He’s Just Not That Into You worked and dined around town.

Filming, which started Friday in Little Italy, will tentatively continue through tomorrow. Based on a self-help humor book, the movie brought stars Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly and Kevin Connolly to Baltimore for the past few days.

In Mount Vernon, restaurants Thairish and the Helmand were temporarily redecorated Saturday with new lights, a new door and a new name: Red Seven.

A-list actresses Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Connelly will be in town this weekend, shooting the final scenes for He’s Just Not That Into You to lend some geographic authenticity to the romantic comedy set in Baltimore.

Set to be released next summer, the movie is based on the popular self-help book by comedian Greg Behrendt and Sex and the City writer Liz Tuccillo. While the film’s plot has been kept under wraps, the book lists all the excuses a woman concocts for why a man she longs for doesn’t seem interested.

Ginnifer Goodwin of Big Love and Kevin Connolly of Entourage will also be filming scenes, which should start today and continue through Monday. But most of the ensemble cast, including Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore, won’t be on location because He’s Just Not That Into You was shot primarily in Los Angeles.

Check out this The Spirit on set visit from MTV.com. It tells us that Scarlett has already finished filming her part and that the results should be something very wonderful.

And oh, what ladies he has to love. “People are going to find that this is a different side to Scarlett Johansson,” Del Prete said of the A-lister, who inspired Miller to expand the originally minor role of a character named Silken Floss. “She is quite wonderful in it; she’s actually finished shooting. She is very funny, she is very sexy, and she is very different than we have seen her in other movies.”

Q: The Other Boleyn Girl is a period drama in which you play Ann to Scarlett Johansson’s Mary Boleyn, sisters who compete to win the heart of Henry VIII. It was set for a holiday release to make it Oscar-eligible. What happened?

A: The script (by Peter Morgan, writer of The Queen) was so good everyone involved wanted to make sure we got it right, that it wasn’t confusing. I’d rather make a really good film than release one just to be in contention for awards.

The trailer for The Other Boleyn Girl can now be viewed at Moviefone in HD!

Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson portray Anne and Mary Boleyn, sisters who compete for the affections of King Henry VIII (Eric Bana). What more could you ask for than a royal cat-fight, a beheading and 16th century costuming? Romance?

I have updated the gallery with 65 HQ screenshots from the trailer.

Thanks so much to Sandra for the heads up.

Earlier this week, ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! flew down to Albuquerque, New Mexico to visit the green screen sets of Will Eisner’s The Spirit, which director Frank Miller has been shooting at the city’s new facilities, Albuquerque (ABQ) Studios. It brings to life Will Eisner’s classic comic book character Denny Colt, a police officer in Central City who was killed in action, but then returned as The Spirit, a masked crimefighter who has a way of attracting the ladies—and not only the nice ones—but who’s thwarted at every turn by the evil mastermind The Octopus.

The film is being made much like Miller’s Sin City and Zack Snyder’s adaptation of Miller’s 300 with actors doing all of their performances in front of a green screen and all the backgrounds and environments created using the latest computer graphics. This was ComingSoon.net’s second visit to an all green screen set after spending some time on the set of 300 two years ago, and while one might not expect there to not be a lot to write about when a movie is being made with no actual sets, in fact, there’s still stuff to see, since it’s an interesting process that requires a lot of clever workarounds for things that tend to be easy when using practical sets, such as how actors interact with objects within their environment, or lack thereof.

The production had taken up two of the larger soundstages at the brand new Albuquerque Studios facility, where security was extremely tight. Cameras and audio recording were verboten, and anyone who wanted to visit the stages needed to turn in their personal ID in order to get a special badge with an image of what looked like a Frank Miller drawn full body portrait of The Spirit. There wasn’t any question that it was worth losing or forgetting your driver’s license or passport there, if it meant a chance to watch a master like Miller at work. The Spirit is the first production to use the complex’s two newest stages and they were on Day 27 of a shoot that would be going through December 14.

Scarlett is featured on the cover of the April Issue of Entertainment Weekly promoting Black Widow.
Even as journalists and fans repeatedly asked Johansson when Black Widow would be going solo, the actress was privately unsure whether that was something she even wanted. “I was like, I think I’m good,” Johansson admits. “If we [were] going to do this, it had to be creatively fulfilling. I’ve been working for such a long time, and I have to feel like I’m challenged. I don’t want to do the same thing that I’d already done before.”
