Scarlett Johansson Fights Back Tears as She Learns Members of Her Family Died in the Warsaw Ghetto

Some months ago Scarlett filmed a episode of Finding Your Roots and at long last the episode will air next Tuesdays (8 p.m. ET) on PBS. You can watch a little clip below.

The actress sat down with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. for an episode of PBS’ Finding Your Roots, in which she examines her mother’s family tree and discovers the unfortunate fate of multiple ancestors in Europe.

In a PEOPLE exclusive sneak peek at Tuesday’s episode, the actress fights back tears as she learns that while her Jewish great-grandfather worked as a grocer in New York City, his brother — along with his family — died in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II.

The ghetto was “a 1.3-square mile area sealed off from the rest of the city where authorities forced all of the city’s Jewish residents to live. At its peak, more than 400,000 Jews were crammed into the ghetto, living in squalid conditions with insufficient food rations. No more than 20,000 of them survived the Holocaust,” according to PBS.

“Wow, that’s sad,” she says in the clip after reading the family document before she is overcome with emotion. “And I promised myself I wouldn’t cry. But it’s hard not to.”

“I mean, you really couldn’t imagine the horror. It’s just so crazy to imagine. … It’s crazy to imagine that Saul would be on the other side selling bananas on Ludlow Street. And how different it would be being in America at that time,” says Johansson, 32. “The fate of one brother versus the other.”

Although a disheartening discovery, knowing her family history makes Johansson feel more connected to her past.

“It makes me feel more deeply connected to that side of myself, that side of my family,” she says, and adds, “I didn’t expect that.”

In the episode, she will also learn about her father’s Danish roots

Scarlett Johansson in Talks to Star in Focus Drama ‘Reflective Light’

Scarlett Johansson is in early talks to star in the Focus Features drama “Reflective Light,” sources tell Variety.

Art photographer Gregory Crewdson is making his directing debut with Marc Platt producing along with Platt Productions’ Jared LeBoff. The film is an adaptation of the 2014 Carla Buckley novel “The Deepest Secret,” which Crewdson and partner Juliane Hiam have adapted.

The pic follows a teenage boy who suffers from a malady that makes him gravely allergic to sunlight. If Johansson’s deal goes through, she would play his mother, so devoted to her son’s care that she has alienated the rest of their family, creating an oddly sustainable nocturnal lifestyle for him at the expense of her own well-being. When a neighborhood girl goes missing, the balance that kept them afloat begins to unravel.

Focus acquired the rights to the movie right before this year’s Cannes Film Festival and hopes to start production next year.

The film would mark a change of pace for Johansson, who has been busy in action and comedy movies including this year’s “Ghost in the Shell” and the Sony comedy “Rough Night.” She can be seen next in “Avengers: Infinity War” and is also lending her voice to Wes Anderson’s animated “Isle of Dogs.”

She is repped by CAA and LBI Entertainment.

Scarlett Johansson assembles Avengers for Puerto Rico hurricane relief benefit

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are assembling once again to take on — not Loki, not Ultron, not Thanos — hurricane relief.

Black Widow herself, Scarlett Johansson, is putting on a one-night, star-studded reading of the Thornton Wilder classic Our Town, as announced Friday by the John Gore Organization. Kenny Leon, the Tony-winning director behind A Raisin in the Sun, will direct the event at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Monday, Nov. 6.

Johansson will star alongside fellow Avengers cast mates Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Mark Ruffalo. Though more surprise celebrity guests are promised to appear.

Tickets for the reading will go on sale this Monday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. ET. All proceeds will be put towards relief efforts in Puerto Rico through the Hurricane Maria Community Relief & Recovery Fund.

Celebrities — like Rihanna, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Chelsea Handler, and Kim Kardashian — have been extremely vocal about President Trump’s tepid public response in the wake of Hurricane Maria hitting Puerto Rico. Many continue to urge the White House to take more forceful action in aiding the citizens.

“The struggle faced by Puerto Rican residents since their island was ravaged by Hurricane Maria is terribly heartbreaking and has left many feeling hopeless and helpless,” Johansson said in a statement. “It is a great privilege to be able to participate in whatever way I can, to provide some relief to those that are struggling to access even the most basic of human needs in the aftermath of this disastrous event. Please help me and my costars in coming together for an extraordinary, one-time-only evening to raise lifesaving funds for a devastated island and to help celebrate the true meaning of community with this unique reading of a great American classic.”

John Gore of the John Gore Organization said Johansson came up with the idea, since she’s already in Atlanta shooting the untitled fourth Avengers movie. “We immediately asked how we could help,” Gore said. “We couldn’t be happier to support our friend, Scarlett, and her costars in producing this evening for such a worthy cause.”

I’m not a big fan my self of comedy but this movie was good for the most part if only for Kate McKinnon and Scarlett holding it up and doing all they can to make it work, the bit with Peter was not needed in the movie at all and is what I hate about american comedys. You can order the Blu-Ray for $19.89 Here , 4K UDH for $27.96 Here and DVD for $17.99 Here.

“Ghost In The Shell” Blu-Ray Screen Captures

As I said in my last post Scarlett’s most recent marvel movie Ghost In The Shell was released on Blu-Ray/DVD last week in the Uk, And after working on them all week I have at last added 1080p Blu-ray quality screen captures of Scarlett as Mira/Motoko or the Major. I got to see this in the theater and it was just visually stunning to see in 3D and still holds up at home but 3D or 4K is the way to go on this one. Scarlett dose delivers a solid performance as the Major with just the right amount of distance and intrigue to work and makes it her own just a shame the movie did not do that well, with the unfair press it was getting for casting Scarlett and in the end that is what killed it still any Scarltt fan should give it ago. Over 1400+ Screen Captures are now up in the gallery to view and more Blu-ray caps from some of Scarlett’s older movies are coming very soon.

First Look At Scarlett In “Avengers: Infinity War” SDCC Poster

After all the press for Rough Night Scarlett has been keeping a low profile the last couple of week’s so there has not been a lot to update on in that time, But two weeks ago was the big event that is San Diego Comic-Con 2017 and although Marvel did hold a panel on Infinity war none of the main cast were there for it. But we did get are first look at what Scarlett would look like this time round and she is now blonde guess she took the running for the government to heart, on top of that the fans at SDCC got to see a little trailer for the movie but Scarlett only has one very little part in it (you can watch it online if you look about).

On other news Ghost In The Shell is out on Blu-Ray in the UK on Monday and my copy is on its way so keep looking back next week for full 1080p Blu-ray caps from both the movie and any bonus features that will be on there.

Avengers: Infinity War Director Teases When Its First Trailer Will Debut

SDCC anyone?

Marvel Studios has mastered the art of anticipation, and fans have never hated them more for it. This weekend, the company dropped its first-look footage of Avengers: Infinity War for lucky fans at D23, but the sizzle reel has yet to go public. Just, don’t worry too much about it; The film’s full teaser might be coming way sooner than fans may think.

During an interview with Good Morning America, director Joe Russo gave fans a hint as to when a teaser for the Avengers film could drop.

“Soon. I’ll say soon,” Russo said. “We’re hard at work on a trailer. I don’t want to spoil it for them, but stay tuned. You’re going to get an Infinity War teaser very soon.”

Of course, there are plenty of fans wondering why Marvel Studios doesn’t just drop the teaser released at D23. The special footage was concise, and it held more than enough action to nearly break the Internet. D23 attendees were quick to praise the heart-stopping Avengers footage after it aired at Marvel’s annual panel, and ComicBook’s Brandon Davis even wrote up a description of the clip which can be read below.

For now, fans can only guess when the teaser for Avengers: Infinity War will go live. There is a good chance San Diego Comic Con will present a sizzle reel for the movie given the positive reaction its D23 clip got. The studio may simply recut the trailer before giving it to the public. However, fans may be asked to wait just a bit longer if SDCC can’t carry the teaser. Thor: Ragnarok is set to hit theaters come November, and the theatrical release would be a perfect place to house the debut trailer for Avengers: Infinity War.

You can check out the description of D23’s Avengers clip below:

“‘We are arriving,’ Mantis said to the Guardians. Teenage Groot in a seat. They describe this place as ‘dangerous.’ The body of Thor lands on their windshield. His hair is short. Rocket is startled. Mantis wakes him up using her powers. Thor is startled. All of the Guardians look at him, prompting him to ask who they are. The ship zips through the cosmos. Elsewhere, Wanda dodges some white energy, and it breaks a truck. Somewhere else, Loki stands in ruin, presenting the Tesseract to someone. Peter’s Spider-Sense takes off as he rides a bus. Tony prepares for battle. He is in space with the Guardians.

“‘Fun really isn’t something one considers when balancing the universe,’ Thanos said. ‘This does put a smile on my face.’ Gamora looks on, terrified. The Guardians observe ruin in many places across Earth and the cosmos. Thanos warps into this new world. Star-Lord battles him. Strange battles him. Spider-man, in his new suit, battles him. Winter Soldier battles on Earth. Wakanda readies to defend their territory. Cap steps out of the shadows, bearded, with longer hair. Hulkbuster fights.

“Peter looks up at Tony, laying down with his mask off, fighting tears with Tony’s hand behind his head, and says, ‘I’m sorry, Tony.’

“Black Panther fights an Outrider, appearing as it did Infinity. Thor’s head is squeezed by Thanos. Thanos pummels Iron Man in a fight. The Guardians are all defeated. Thanos has assembled the Infinity Gauntlet. He throws a moon at an entire planet.”
