It looks like Stephen Colbert really is leaning in.

After calling late-night television “a bit of a sausagefest,” Colbert has landed two mega-watt female stars – and all-around powerful women – as some of his first guests when he takes over The Late Show on Sept. 8.

Captain America: Civil War superhero Scarlett Johansson is set to stop by Sept. 9, and breakout comedian Amy Schumer will drop in Sept. 11, CBS announced Monday. (A tip for Colbert’s Eminem-tested, celebrity-ignorant alter ego: Don’t call the former “ScarJo.”)

Trainwreck, which Schumer wrote and stars in, has grossed more than $120 million worldwide. Schumer, 34, has also aligned herself with her cousin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, to advocate for gun control. Meanwhile, Forbes has anointed Johansson, 30, No. 2 on its World’s Highest Paid Actresses list, and she’s also incredibly politically active.

It was announced today that on September 11, the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) will broadcast across all major networks a new event called Think It Up to improve education in America. This is the same group that previously produced the Stand Up To Cancer specials. These are the celebrities confirmed to participate so far: Stephen Colbert, Matthew McConaughey, Kristen Bell, Jessica Williams, Jeremy Renner

The headliners though are Ryan Seacrest, Scarlett Johansson, and Gwyneth Paltrow who, as you know, was also one of the prime faces of Stand Up To Cancer.

The campaign ‘Think It Up’ will invite the public and students to work with teachers to develop projects that will support their passions.

Abby August 20th, 2015 Captain America: Civil War

Steve Rogers and Tony Stark will be at each other’s throats in the latest Marvel movie Captain America: Civil War.

The Avengers duo – played by Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. – find themselves at loggerheads in the forthcoming Marvel blockbuster as long-standing relationships begin to unravel in dramatic fashion.

New footage from the superhero epic, which pulls together some of the biggest characters (new and old) in the MCU, was presented August 15 at Disney’s D23 expo in Anaheim.

Civil War will reportedly introduce Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man into the MCU before he branches off into his own solo movie in 2017.

Captain America: Civil War will be released in the UK on April 29, 2016 and in the US on May 6.
The trailer hasn’t been released online to the public, but here are the key points you need to know:

Captain America clashes with Crossbones. “You know, he remembered you. Your pal, your buddy, your Bucky,” says Frank Grillo’s villain.

General Ross (William Hurt) is back. “The world owes you an unpayable debt. A lot great many people see you as a hero. There are some who prefer the word vigilante. People are afraid.”

Bucky is spotted captured as in the post-credits scene from Ant-Man.

Scarlet Witch is spied and The Vision in seen wearing a tux at a funeral scene.

Tony Stark to Steve Rogers: “Sometimes I want to punch you in your perfect teeth.”

Stark invokes the superhero registration act, saying: “Without boundaries we’re no better than the bad guys.”

Hawkeye fights Black Widow. “We’re still friends?” “Depends how hard you hit me.”

Scott Lang appears and meets Steve Rogers. “I know you know a lot of super people. So thanks for thinking of me.”

Black Panther is glimpsed very briefly, but there’s nothing of Spider-Man unfortunately.

Abby July 22nd, 2015 Movies

Black Widow has been a curious character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She’s one of the few major superheroes that has yet to get her own standalone film, but she’s been put to solid use as a key component of the MCU. Though she debuted in Iron Man 2, Widow really flourished in The Avengers, and thanks to her relationship with Steve Rogers in the movie, she went on to co-star opposite Chris Evans in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Following next month’s sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron, Scarlett Johansson is poised to don the suit again straight away in Captain America: Civil War. But unlike The Winter Soldier, which focused almost exclusively on Cap, Captain America 3 is pulling together a number of characters from the MCU to kick off the Civil War storyline—including Black Widow.

Steve recently sat down with Johansson for an exclusive interview at the Avengers: Age of Ultron press day, and he spoke with the actress about Captain America: Civil War and her reaction to reading the script for the first time:

“I have read the script for Civil War. You know, the film has a very different feeling than anything of Marvel’s that I’ve read or been a part of before. These films are—I don’t think darker is the right word because there’s definitely always going to be some kind of levity, and that comes in a form of humor or hope. When you compare these films to like Batman, it’s a different feeling obviously, it’s a different audience experience, but as the stakes loom like larger and larger I think these films are kind of maturing with the audience; so there’s even more complex psychological twists that I sort of hadn’t necessarily anticipated.”

When asked if Widow’s relationship with Cap automatically means she sides with Rogers in the Civil War storyline, the actress laughed and replied, “I can’t say anything about that.” But Johansson did discuss the prospect of working with The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo again on Civil War, who will also be helming Avengers: Infinity War – Parts 1 & 2:

“I’m excited to work with the Russos again. They have a very different approach to this universe than Joss, just different. It will be interesting to see how they treat all of these new characters. When we were doing Cap 2, the film felt very much like we were doing a kind of ‘70s style car-chase political-thriller, it had that kind of flavor. But they were also dealing with far less characters, the stakes were just different. Now with Civil War it’s gonna be interesting to see how they set up this next phase, I think Cap 3 is definitely sort of like a pre-Avengers 3 and 4. It feels like that, whereas Cap 2 didn’t feel like it was necessarily part of The Avengers. I mean, it feels like a piece that fits in, but it didn’t feel like it was leading you into Avengers 2.”

Johansson also felt an almost eerie sense of connection when Baumbach handed her the monologue over lunch in the fall of 2017.“It was the first piece Noah gave me, and it felt familiar somehow, but not because of what I’d been experiencing then,” says the actress, 34, who at the time was embroiled in her own separation, from French curator Romain Dauriac. “But maybe because of how I grew up, and the dynamic between my parents—or maybe because I’ve known women who’ve dedicated themselves to their partner’s vision and then come out of this decade-long relationship feeling almost like a ghost.” She adds that she, too, has been in that place, and that the truth in Nicole’s story was what excited her. “I didn’t hesitate at all, because I knew that I’d have the opportunity to say those words,” she says. “Noah gave me that monologue, and I was like, ‘Well, shit, come on.’ Am I going to be like, ‘Nah, I’m good—let some other actor have that’? No way.”
