Birthday Girl Scarlett Johansson Talks Risk-Taking & Short Hair

Scarlett Johansson, you may have heard, recently gave birth to a baby girl, Rose. But, upon seeing the actress — who turns 30 today — in person, we noticed one life change that took immediate precedent (yes, even over childbirth).

“I think I just got tired of wearing a ponytail all the time,” she says, smoothing back the freshly-buzzed sides of the haircut she debuted over the summer. “I [was] always stuffing it under a wig, so I just cut it off. Everybody kept saying, ‘Don’t cut your hair! You might hate it!’ But, then I thought, Why am I letting other people tell me what to do? ”

The low-maintenance style is perfect for the new mother. “I can just wash and go,” she says.

It turns out, this no-fuss philosophy applies to all things beauty in the actress’ life. “I’ve never had a crazy routine,” she says. And, after giving birth, she’s realized just how precious free time is. “I’m on somebody else’s schedule,” she says. But, she’s quick to add: “It’s hard for…any parent with a new kid. Your brain is totally preoccupied. But, I’m very fortunate to have a job where I can take time off, and I can have my baby at work and people are more understanding. A lot of people don’t have that luxury.”

That makes those rare moments she does spend on herself even more crucial. “If I have a few minutes to transition from day to a holiday party, I’d probably use red lipstick,” she says, pointing to Dolce & Gabbana’s Lipstick in Real Red. (She’s currently a face of the brand.) “Then, maybe a couple lashings of mascara, and if I had the time, a little [cat-eye] flick. But, that would be it.”

She seems to put much more thought into her fragrances, alternating them based on roles she plays. For example, for her turn as Maggie in Broadway’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, “I wore a lot of old Southern fragrances, like magnolia and gardenia. I found this old company in New Orleans that does Victorian scents, and I wore them, and it actually makes a difference.”

For her, scent goes beyond embodying a character — which is refreshing to hear from someone who’s been endorsing luxury perfumes for a few years. “Fragrances are of a certain time,” she says. “Recently, my partner [Romain Dauriac] bought a bunch of fragrances his dad used to wear, like [Yves Saint Laurent] Jazz, and it’s crazy because they smell like a different era.”

And now, as a whirlwind year in the life of Scarlett Johansson comes to an end — an engagement, a baby, three major film roles, and many more projects in the pipeline — she may be entering a different era of her own, especially considering she’s reached a birthday milestone today. “My work has been sort of far-reaching in these past couple of years,” she says. “As an actor, I’ve learned to be more flexible…to take greater risks. I’ve learned that if you don’t take a risk with the choices you make, even in one particular scene, you never know what you could gain.”

She says, after a pause: “So, maybe I’m more accepting of failure. I would never know if I didn’t take the chance.”

All of this may sound like solid New Year’s-resolution material, but the actress says she doesn’t believe in such things. For the rest of us, there’s a great deal of inspiration to take from Scarlett, who’s clearly in charge of her career, her personal life, and even her own damn hair — all without the hint of a fumble. Yes, change can be a beautiful thing.

Scarlett Johansson to land $10m for lead role in Ghost in the Shell

Scarlett Johansson is being lined up to star in the lead role for the upcoming, big screen adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, which is currently in the works. While some people were unsure whether Scarlett would be interested in taking on the role, it seems that there is a very big incentive for the actress.

It’s now been claimed that Scarlett Johansson will be offered an astounding $10m to take the offer of playing the lead role in the Ghost in the Shell movie, which may be a challenge for anybody to show. It becomes an absolute huge offer for any leading star nowadays, so we’d be very surprised if Scarlett was to turn the offer down, not that she needs the money.

For anyone who’re not really acquainted with Ghost in the Shell, it began as a seinen manga, until then being converted into and anime movie, starting with become a television series. The official description for the new Ghost in the Shell live action movie only reads, “A sci-fi story centered on a cyborg cop’ efforts to lower your a nefarious computer hacker.”

If Scarlett Johansson ended up being to accept the offer of $10m to experience the lead role in the Ghost in the Shell movie, then she’d be playing the character Major Motoko Kusanagi, who is seriously bad ass. Nevertheless there is not one other casting news surrounding the project, it is known that Rupert Sanders is on board to direct the film, in the screenplay that’s been adapted by William Wheeler.

Scarlett Johansson May Star on ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Graphic Novel Adaptation

Luc Besson is showing remarkable restraint by ruling out a sequel for this summer’s hit “Lucy,” but that will not stop every executive around town from throwing action scripts at the feet of Scarlett Johansson. The actress, who already has Marvel fans campaigning for a Black Widow spinoff, now has Warner Bros. offering her charge role in a long-in-the-works live action adaptation of a cult classic anime movie.

Deadline is reporting that Johansson has been offered $10 million to star as Major Motoko Kusanagi, the film’s “augmented-cybernetic human” lead character. As a person in the elite task force Section 9, Major Kusanagi faces terrorists and thugs on the cyber warfare front of a futuristic cyberpunk version of Japan. With lush visuals and a healthy dose of science fiction, Ghost In The Shell has the makings of a four quadrant hit.

Speaking of remakes, “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” helmer David Lowery is gearing up “Pete’s Dragon” over at Disney and Robert Redford of all people is in early talks for the movie, according to THR. It’s yet another surprise move for Redford who also appeared in this year’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” but it will work better once you keep in mind that Lowery and Redford have another project cooking, the financial institution robber tale “The Old Man And The Gun.”

According the news, Sony Pictures TV is combining, Scarlett Johansson for a limited series project that’s about to hit the market. Johansson is placed to star in and executive produce the eight-episode period series, from Charles Finch’s Pink Sands, which is based on Wharton’s 1913 novel The Custom Of The Country.

Johannson will play the story’s heroine Undine Spragg, and the period drama will chronicle her mission to get to the heights of New York beau monde at all necessary.

However, Julian Fellowes said that he was greatly inspired by the 1913 novel. He said :

Robert Downey Jr requires A Black Widow movie

Scarlett’s Avengers co-star Robert Downey Jr wants a Black Widow movie to happen he told USA Today newspaper.

“I think that the interesting thing particularly after Guardians with Zoe [Saldana, or] even from the first ‘Iron Man’ where Pepper was kind of this really – to me the ‘Iron Man’ franchise would never have taken off without [Gwyneth] Paltrow.”
“There’s something about her that grounded the story. She’s not your typical lady in a superhero movie, and then by Iron Man 3 she’s swallowing serums and putting on suits and kicking [butt] and all that stuff. But it would be kind of more appropriate for a character that already was like a Black Widow [to lead a movie]. It just seems like whatever Scarlett does, people want to go see it.”
