The Guardian – Scarlett Johansson reportedly vetoed funding from the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, for her next film.
The actor is set to play the Pulitzer prize-winning photojournalist Lynsey Addario in a biopic directed by Ridley Scott, but when she found out the initial set of funders included Bin Salman, she rejected his involvement.
“Scarlett Johansson said absolutely not,” Addario said in an interview with Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times. “She said: ‘This guy is perpetuating the war in Yemen. He has women in prison.’”
She also added: “This was before the killing of Khashoggi, when he became one of the main people who wanted to fund the movie.”
Bin Salman has recently been implicated in the death of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who died in the Saudi embassy in Turkey after writing critically about Bin Salman’s rule.
“I didn’t meet with him personally,” Addario said. “But my sense is that he probably – my movie got folded into this huge charm campaign. And that fact that he wanted to show the west that he was into Hollywood, he was into all the great things of the west … Do I want him associated with this movie? Obviously not. And thank God he’s not.”
In April, Bin Salman headed to Hollywood to meet with studio heads and stars including Dwayne Johnson. It was a visit that led to protests and last week the CNN reporter Oliver Darcy tweeted a screen grab of an Instagram post from Johnson at the time stating it was a “pleasure” to meet him.
“Such a silly, clickbait post, Oliver,” Johnson fired back. “I’m surprised you’d post this. Go back and really read my words. I listened and learned then. As I listen and learn now. C’mon man.”
Addario’s work has focused on global conflicts and particularly the effect they have had on women. During her career, she has been kidnapped twice and sexually assaulted while detained in Libya. The upcoming film, originally set to be directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Jennifer Lawrence, is based on Addario’s memoir It’s What I Do.
Marvel Studios News – In news that will surprise no one, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed we will see an Avengers 4 trailer before the end of 2018. Feige said as much after an awards screening for Black Panther last night.
While there was some speculation (or fear) from fans that Marvel might hold out longer than usual, most have expected the trailer to arrive around late November or early December. That’s when the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer debuted last year.
There is a chance we could see the Avengers 4 trailer just a bit earlier than we saw the Infinity War trailer. It’s not a prediction, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Disney and Marvel Studios drop the A4 trailer right before or perhaps during Thanksgiving weekend.
Scarlett as well as some of the rest of the Marvel family did a little video message for Kevin Feige for his win at the 2018 Britannia Awards and you can watch it below.

Billboard.com – Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson’s video for their new single “Iguana Bird” is a expressive personification of heartbreak recovery. The artistic clip, released Friday (Oct. 5), was directed by Bonnie Wright, best known for her role as Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter series.
The video shows a clearly downhearted young girl seeking personal connection in a bar, to no avail. She soon literally lights up the room when she lets go of inhibitions and lets herself dance.
“Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson’s new single ‘Iguana Bird’ evoked for me that new loneliness you feel in the wake of a break up, having spent every moment with someone you now have to create new memories that feel forced and out of touch with what you know,” Wright told Paper about the track. “I was inspired by the dance scene in Jean Luc-Godard’s film Bande à Part, most particularly Anna Karina’s character, and the vulnerable beauty often explored in French cinema during the ‘60s.”
Yorn is currently in the midst of his An Evening With Pete Yorn tour. Watch the video for “Iguana Bird” below.

With this was a total surprise but Scarlett made a appearance last night’s at the 70th Annual Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. She was there to show support for her boyfriend and co-host of the show Colin Jost. Scarlett looking amazing in her exclusive Balmain dress, yellow eye shadow (that I love) and at long long last she is growing her hair out of the look she has had since 2014 and it looks great on her. Over 200 HQ photos from the event are now up in the gallery with I hope more to come.

Last night was the opening of Joe Russo’s new La restaurant and to show some love to one of her Avengers director Scarlet as well as Chris Evans, Don Cheadle, Karen Gillan, Marisa Tomei and Pom Klementieff as well as other Marvel directors Jon Favreau, Taika Waititi and top Marvel man Kevin Feige were among those toasting the debut of the stylish bar and restaurant along with the chef Jessica Largey. It was nice to see Scarlett out for a night as with all the filming she has been doing as of late she has not been at events. Photos from the night have been added into the gallery and I hope to get more soon.

Avengers 4 are at this time doing some additional photography or reshoots as some call them and yesterday Scarlett, Chris Evans and Paul Rudd were seen on set in Atlanta, We only got photos of Scarlett in a shop but it gives us are first official look at her new hair and its back to red with blonde at the ends so with how much longer her hair is now could Avengers 4 have a time jump in it? You can view the photos in the gallery and I do hope we get to see a full photo of her soon and a title for the movie would be nice as well.

Avengers Infinity War was just released on digital download on July 29th, and after some time I got my hands on a 1080p blu-ray quality version complete with extras, Scarlett reprises her role as Natasha Romanov / Black Widow this time with very cool blonde hair (please keep it) for the biggest Marvel movie so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a movie that see’s all the characters from from all the movies come together to fight Thanos. Unfortunately Scarlett dose not have a lot to do or a lot of screen time in this part but it has been said they all the characters from part one who did not have a lot of time will have a much bigger role in the still unnamed Avengers 4 so we can hope right. As with the movie Scarlett was not in a lot of the bonus features only two and not a lot of time in them at all but they were Beyond The Battle: Wakanda and the Gag Reel no deleted or extended scenes but we no from the Trailers we are missing at least two so I hope they come out at some time maybe with the big phase 3 box set some time down the road. The physical versions of the movie will be releases on August 14th in the US and September 3rd in the UK.

variety – Scarlett Johansson has exited the drama film “Rub and Tug” a little more than a week after her casting sparked backlash amid trans groups and activists, a source with knowledge of the situation confirms to Variety.
“In light of recent ethical questions raised surrounding my casting as Dante Tex Gill, I have decided to respectfully withdraw my participation in the project,” Johansson told Out Magazine, which first reported the news, in a statement. “Our cultural understanding of transgender people continues to advance, and I’ve learned a lot from the community since making my first statement about my casting and realize it was insensitive. I have great admiration and love for the trans community and am grateful that the conversation regarding inclusivity in Hollywood continues. According to GLAAD, LGBTQ+ characters dropped 40% in 2017 from the previous year, with no representation of trans characters in any major studio release.”
“While I would have loved the opportunity to bring Dante’s story and transition to life, I understand why many feel he should be portrayed by a transgender person, and I am thankful that this casting debate, albeit controversial, has sparked a larger conversation about diversity and representation in film,” the statement continues. “I believe that all artists should be considered equally and fairly. My production company, These Pictures, actively pursues projects that both entertain and push boundaries. We look forward to working with every community to bring these most poignant and important stories to audiences worldwide.”
New Regency won an auction for the movie on July 2, and it was set to be directed by Rupert Sanders, who previously worked with Johansson on “Ghost in the Shell.”
“Rub and Tug” focused on Dante “Tex” Gill, a crime kingpin who used his massage parlor as a front for prostitution in the ’70s and ’80s. Gill lived his life as a trans man, which led many on social media to wonder why a trans actor wasn’t tapped for the role.
It’s currently unclear where production stands on “Rub and Tug” after Johansson’s exit.
